Our Design Director Susan Lake discovered her passion for lighting during her undergraduate interior architecture honours degree at Napier University in Edinburgh in 2000-2004. She then developed her passion further during her post graduate interior design masters degree at Edinburgh college of Art in 2005-2007. During this time Susan was awarded the Royal Society of Arts Design Directions Transport Interchange design award in 2004, receiving a travel bursary which she used to travel the world and gain design inspiration from India and Japan.

Susan was a senior lighting designer at Lighting Design Partnership International in Edinburgh for over 3 years designing residential, spa and hotel projects in the UK and the Middle East, including the Marriott Renaissance Central Market Abu Dhabi.

Following her work at LDPI Susan moved to London as a senior designer at Lighting Design International, an award winning world renowned architectural lighting design consultancy. Susan worked at LDI for 6 years honing her design skills, designing several high end residential and commercial projects in the UK and abroad. Susan designed several hotel, spa and corporate headquarters some of which received critical acclamation in the form of Design awards for the design of The Alpina Gstaad Winner of the European Hotel Design of the year 2013 at the European Hotel Design Awards. Following this Ham Yard Hotel was shortlisted for the Lux Awards 2014, and for the Lighting Design Awards 2015. 

Susan proceeded to form Susan Lake Lighting Design utilising her design skills to create beautiful lighting projects.
